Japan’s Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama visited SkyDrive’s flight test facility in Yamaguchi City to observe a demonstration of the company’s pilotless electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The flight lasted approximately six minutes, covering 2.2 kilometers at a maximum speed of 78 km/h and altitude of 30 meters

Following the flight, discussions focused on commercial deployment plans and technical aspects with SkyDrive and manufacturing partner Suzuki. This visit aligns with Japan’s strategy to develop advanced air mobility and support domestic eVTOL technology, according to SkyDrive

Munich Aeroacoustics Identifies Fractal Vertipad Surfaces as Potential eVTOL Noise Reducers

Acoustic modeling by German consultancy Munich Aeroacoustics (MUAA) suggests that specially designed fractal surfaces on vertipads could reduce noise from electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations, especially at elevated sites like rooftop vertiports. Using their FLYO simulation software, MUAA compared eight hypothetical pad configurations against untreated surfaces
